Mayor Abu Asli declares February 2025 as Love Your Library Month and Black History Month

The Marion City Council meeting held on February 7, 2025, featured significant proclamations recognizing both Love Your Library Month and Black History Month.

Council Member Sarah Menser presented the proclamation for Love Your Library Month, highlighting the vital role libraries play in connecting communities and providing essential resources. The proclamation noted the historical significance of Black History Month, which originated from a week established by Carter G. Woodson in 1926. The 2025 national theme, "African Americans and Labor," was highlighted, recognizing the impact of African Americans in various occupations.
