Subcommittee finalizes hybrid meeting protocols in Bryce Conference Room

In a recent meeting of the Operating Protocols Ad Hoc Subcommittee held on February 5, 2025, members discussed important updates to the school committee's operating protocols, emphasizing flexibility and inclusivity for all members. The meeting, which took place in the Bryce Conference Room, was recorded and attended by a quorum of members.

One of the key proposals was to implement hybrid meeting options, allowing members who are unable to attend in person due to illness, family emergencies, or business trips to participate virtually. This initiative aims to ensure that all members can remain engaged and involved in discussions, regardless of their circumstances. The subcommittee agreed to post meeting agendas as hybrid and provide 24 hours' notice for virtual attendance.

Additionally, the committee reviewed the language of their operating protocols, suggesting the removal of specific bullet points that may have sounded overly harsh. They also agreed to clarify references to the Open Meeting Law (OML) by spelling it out to avoid confusion among members.

The subcommittee concluded the meeting by voting to refer the finalized protocols to the full committee for approval, marking a significant step towards enhancing the operational framework of the Southbridge Public Schools.
