Historic Preservation Commission approves sign permits for Hinsdale Avenue businesses

The Historic Preservation Commission of Hinsdale convened on February 5, 2025, to review two significant sign permit applications, both of which were approved unanimously.

The first case involved Coldwell Banker Realty at 80 Centesdale Avenue, where a minor signage update was proposed. The changes include the removal of the existing logo from the awning and the addition of two window decals, ensuring compliance with the zoning code by keeping total signage under 25 square feet. This adjustment is a proactive measure as the current lease for the tenant, Dawn McKenna, is set to expire in August.

The second case pertained to Guaranteed Rate at 14 West Hillsdale Avenue, where the company is updating its logo. The commission noted that the new signage would be a straightforward replacement, maintaining the existing design while refreshing the branding.

In addition to the sign reviews, the commission briefly discussed ongoing projects, including updates on a historic plaque for the Memorial Building and the status of a grant for Sixth Street, with no new developments reported.

The meeting concluded with no public comments and a motion to adjourn, reflecting a focused session on preserving the character of Hinsdale while accommodating necessary business updates.
