Lombard committee recommends $42K in grants for upcoming lilac events

The Lombard Village Board of Trustees made significant strides in promoting local tourism during their recent meeting on February 6, 2025. The board approved multiple grant requests aimed at enhancing community events and supporting local organizations, all funded through hotel-motel tax revenues.

One of the most notable approvals was a $25,000 grant for the Lombard Lilac Festival Parade, scheduled for May 18, 2025. This funding will cover various expenses, including honorariums for participants and advertising costs, ensuring a vibrant celebration that attracts visitors and fosters community spirit.

Additionally, the board greenlit a $2,000 grant for the Lombard Garden Club to purchase lilacs and related materials for their event on May 8, 2025. This initiative aims to beautify the community and engage residents in gardening activities.

The Lombard Junior Women's Club also received a $10,000 grant to support the Lilac Princess program, which includes scholarships for the Lilac Court and preparations for the 90th Lilac Court Reunion. Furthermore, the Lombard Area Chamber of Commerce was awarded $5,000 for the Lilac Times Arts and Crafts Fair, set for May 4, 2025. This funding will help cover essential village services, ensuring a safe and enjoyable event for attendees.
