Deputy Aldridge saves life during Austin duathlon with CPR efforts

Deputy Steve Aldridge was honored for his heroic actions during a duathlon in Austin, Texas, where he saved a life through his quick response and CPR skills. While participating in the race, Aldridge noticed an individual lying off the trail and immediately rushed to help. Realizing the person was not breathing, he performed CPR for nearly eight minutes until a fellow participant, a 17-year-old lifeguard, joined him in the effort. Their teamwork continued until medical personnel arrived and successfully revived the individual using an AED. Aldridge later learned that the person had survived and made a full recovery, showcasing the dedication and training of law enforcement officers both on and off duty.

The ceremony also featured promotions, including Sergeant Matthew Volk, who was elevated to the rank of lieutenant. Volk, who has had a diverse career within the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, was surrounded by family as he received his new badge. His extensive experience includes roles in various commands and units, highlighting his commitment to public service.
