Residents demand action on noxious fumes from Fairfax Plaza laundromat

Cindy Ross, a local resident, voiced her frustration over ongoing issues with noxious fumes from the laundromat at Fairfax Plaza. She highlighted that these fumes have been affecting her health and the well-being of her neighbors for years. Ross referenced a report from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, which confirmed the presence of harmful emissions reaching her home. Despite her repeated requests for the council to enforce town ordinance 7-34 regarding these emissions, she feels her concerns have been dismissed. "I’m really concerned that the council is ignoring it," she stated, emphasizing the need for immediate action, especially in light of past environmental issues in the area.

Following Ross, Jody Timbs addressed the council, focusing on climate change and its implications. Timbs criticized the federal government's recent actions to downplay climate science and encouraged community engagement. She announced an upcoming event hosted by the Fairfax Climate Action Committee and the San Anselmo Climate Action Committee, aimed at fostering discussion on climate resilience.
