The City of Albany held a public hearing on January 28, 2025, to discuss the issuance of a new cabaret license for Salsa Latina restaurant, located at 579 A New Scotland Avenue. Urbano Ibanos, the owner of Salsa Latina, confirmed that he received the legal notice for the hearing and that it was properly displayed at the restaurant. He stated his intent to apply for a year-long cabaret permit. The restaurant is currently open for business and has a maximum occupancy of 60, with a total square footage of approximately 2,200 square feet. Ibanos assured the committee that the establishment is soundproofed and does not have additional rooms for use.

Subscribe for Free The restaurant's hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM, Friday from 11 AM to 10 PM, Saturday from 12 PM to 10 PM, and Sunday from 12 PM to 8 PM. The proposed entertainment hours are Thursday from 7 PM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 7 PM to 10 PM, featuring DJs or acoustic performances. Ibanos confirmed that the establishment sells alcohol and currently holds a liquor license, which he will provide via email.
The hearing also addressed any potential noise complaints or violations associated with the location. Ibanos stated there have been no known issues. The application will undergo a review process involving multiple city departments, including the Albany Police Department and the Albany Fire Department, before a final decision is made.
