California launches state digital equity plan to eliminate access barriers

This funding is intended to support the implementation of the Digital Equity Plan, although officials acknowledged that this amount may not be sufficient to meet all objectives due to California's large population. The program will focus on providing centralized services to support local partners, funding digital inclusion efforts, and launching a subgrant program aimed at enhancing digital literacy, device distribution, and workforce development.

The timeline for implementing the capacity grant was also discussed, highlighting the importance of ongoing stakeholder engagement throughout the process. Notably, the state plans to initiate a 60-day subgrant application period by the end of the current quarter, ensuring that funds are distributed efficiently to support local initiatives.
