Navarro said Lake Erie drives much of Ohio’s fishing activity and that the work includes research, harvest monitoring, stocking and interjurisdictional coordination to sustain sport and commercial fisheries.

On local access and funding, Navarro said the division receives one-eighth of 1% of the state motor-boat gas tax for developing motor-boat access and that the agency is supporting a boat-ramp revitalization in Lorain that will include a fish-cleaning station.
