Sebring High School senior Julia Charlery nominated for prestigious fellowship scholarship

The Highlands County School Board meeting on December 10, 2024, highlighted significant achievements and community involvement within the district. The meeting began with a special recognition for Julia Charlery, a senior at Sebring High School, who was named a finalist for the prestigious Leaders for Life Fellowship Scholarship. Julia, who has been involved in various extracurricular activities including cheerleading, student government, and the AVID program, expressed her gratitude for the support she has received throughout her educational journey. She shared her aspirations to pursue a career in dentistry, starting with a dental hygiene program at South Florida State College.

Following Julia's recognition, students from Sebring Middle School presented the character word of the month, "charity." They discussed the importance of generosity and community service, highlighting their recent initiatives such as food drives and volunteering efforts. The students emphasized how acts of charity can strengthen communities and foster empathy.
