California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board launches My Appeal online account registration guide

California claimants and employers can now easily register for a My Appeal online account, streamlining access to their unemployment or disability insurance appeal cases. During a recent meeting, the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB) outlined the registration process, emphasizing its importance for those with existing Employment Development Department (EDD) appeal cases.

To begin, individuals must have their CUIAB case number, which is provided in an appeal acknowledgment letter after filing with EDD. This number is essential for creating a My Appeal account, which offers real-time updates on appeal cases, the ability to submit documents, listen to hearing recordings, and make additional requests at any time.

The registration process requires several key pieces of information, including an active email address, social security number and date of birth for claimants, or an EDD employer account number for employers. Once this information is gathered, users can navigate to the CUIAB website, where they will find a dedicated "My Appeal" tab to start the registration.

After selecting their preferred language and agreeing to the terms and conditions, users will fill out a registration form. Upon submission, a welcome email will be sent, containing a link to finalize the account setup by creating a secure password.

This initiative is expected to enhance accessibility and transparency for Californians navigating the appeals process, allowing them to manage their cases more effectively.
