Perry High School students addressed the Jim Crow laws and their effects on African American labor from 1896 to 1954. They discussed the struggles for civil rights and the formation of labor unions that fought against discrimination in the workplace.
The presentations culminated with reflections on landmark events in the civil rights movement, including the Brown v. Board of Education decision and the Little Rock Nine's integration efforts. Students emphasized the ongoing fight for equality and the significance of Black excellence in various fields, from politics to space exploration.
