Petaluma City Schools welcomes new budget director and assistant principal

The Petaluma City Schools Board of Education meeting on October 22, 2024, highlighted significant personnel changes and celebrated student achievements across the district.

The meeting began with the introduction of Helen Miller as the new Director of Budget and Accounting for Petaluma City Schools. Miller, who has extensive experience in school finance, previously worked in various roles including budget technician and district accountant. She earned her Chief Business Official certificate in 2023 and is expected to bring a positive impact to the district.

Following Miller's introduction, Danny Camber was welcomed as the new Assistant Principal of Petaluma Adult School. Camber, who began his role on October 17, 2024, holds multiple degrees and has a strong background in education, including experience as a classroom teacher and department chair. He expressed excitement about returning to his hometown and contributing to the community.

The meeting also recognized the October Students of the Month from various schools. Sofia Buwat and Ninel Ho from Kenilworth Junior High were acknowledged for their leadership and academic excellence. Petaluma Junior High celebrated Samuel Hernandez Diaz and Elena Gutierrez for their positive contributions and achievements. Casa Grande High School honored Stella Cooney and Pranav Krishna for their extracurricular involvement and academic success, while Petaluma High School recognized Corey Huppert and Salome Jimenez for their dedication and leadership.

The meeting concluded with a call for family and friends of the honored students to stand and be recognized, emphasizing the community's role in supporting student success. The board expressed pride in the accomplishments of both staff and students, setting a positive tone for the upcoming school year.
