Bullhead City Optimum Community Center unveils new programs and events schedule

Bullhead City is set to enhance community engagement and recreational opportunities with the recent developments announced during the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on February 19, 2025. The Optimum Community Center has opened its first phase, featuring a gymnasium, multipurpose room, and office space, allowing for the launch of various programs, including the Vita Free Tax Service, which offers free tax assistance to residents.

The community center is currently hosting basketball and gymnastics programs, and several organizations, including Veterans in Motion and Positive Pause, have settled into their new spaces. A grand opening event for the center is scheduled for March, alongside other significant openings, including the Senior Enrichment Center on March 4, the UTV Trailhead at Silver Creek on March 18, and Gary Keith Park on April 11 and 12.

Upcoming events in Bullhead City parks include the AFA Bash for Bats adult softball tournament from February 21 to 23, expected to attract around 70 teams. The Farmers Market will return on March 1, and several youth sporting events are planned, including the prestigious Dave Kopps Tournament of Champions, which ranks the top girls' high school softball teams in the nation.

The Parks and Recreation division is also offering a variety of free programs for children aged 3 to 14, including fun science experiments and creative activities throughout March. The Golden Games training events are set to continue, promoting inclusive sports like chair volleyball and horseshoe pitching.

Commissioners expressed enthusiasm for the community's positive response to the Golden Games and encouraged participation and volunteering in upcoming events.
