City Council approves $63K design for new pickleball courts at Dave White Park

Casa Grande City Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing recreational facilities by approving a contract for engineering design services for additional pickleball courts at Dave White Regional Park. During the regular meeting on February 18, 2025, the council authorized the city manager to engage General Acrylics Incorporated for this project, with costs not exceeding $63,000.

The new courts will be located just north of the existing pickleball courts, near the volleyball courts. The plan includes the construction of 12 dedicated pickleball courts, addressing the growing demand for this popular sport in the community. Current facilities are reportedly at capacity, especially during peak usage times in the winter.

The design phase will involve assessing the area for optimal configuration, including potential adjustments to the landscape and water control measures. The project is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 capital improvement plan, which was approved during last year’s budget process.

Council members expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, noting the increasing popularity of pickleball and the need for more dedicated spaces. The discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining separate facilities for tennis and pickleball to adhere to national standards and avoid conflicts.
