Sandy Springs improves stormwater drainage on Riverside Drive to reduce flooding risk

Sandy Springs is making significant strides in flood mitigation with a focused project on Riverside Drive, an area notorious for storm-related flooding. The stormwater team has implemented crucial improvements to the spillway and drainage system, effectively reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rainstorms.

Previously, the spillway struggled to manage excess water, leading to frequent flooding in the North Harbor neighborhood. However, recent upgrades have enhanced its capacity, akin to enlarging a drain to expedite water flow.
