Milton appoints Scott Ostrander as vice chair at airport improvement committee meeting

The Saratoga Airport Improvement Committee convened on February 4, 2025, to discuss key updates and decisions regarding ongoing projects and funding for the airport. The meeting began with the appointment of Scott Ostrander from Milton as the new vice chair, who also serves as the chair of buildings and grounds.

The committee approved the minutes from the previous meeting held on December 3, 2024, without any objections. Following this, the committee addressed several important financial matters related to airport improvements.

The first item on the agenda was the acceptance of a Department of Transportation (DOT) grant match for the Airport Improvement Program grant. The committee approved a state match of $48,945, which corresponds to a federal grant of $881,000 allocated for the construction of the internal override. This funding is already included in the 2025 budget, eliminating the need for a budget amendment.

Next, the committee authorized the acceptance of another DOT grant match, this time for $25,000, which is part of a larger federal grant of $450,000. This funding will be used for the rehabilitation of the Western itinerant apron, located in front of the new terminal building. Similar to the previous item, this amount is also accounted for in the 2025 budget.

The meeting continued with an update on the ongoing construction project at the airport. The project remains on schedule and within budget, with substantial completion anticipated in May 2025. Currently, around 70 to 80 workers are actively engaged in the construction, and the exterior work is nearing completion, with only two panels left to install.

The committee concluded the meeting with no further questions or discussions, and a motion to adjourn was unanimously approved. The next steps will focus on the continued progress of the construction and the upcoming ribbon-cutting ceremony.
