Athens Utilities team ensures reliable power delivery across Limestone County

In a recent meeting held by the Athens City Utilities Electric Department, key personnel discussed the operations and challenges faced by the local power company, which is one of 153 within the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) region. The meeting highlighted the critical role Athens Utilities plays in ensuring a reliable power supply to the community.

Hunter Allen, the assistant director of electrical services, provided an overview of the department's operations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an uninterrupted power supply. Athens Utilities receives power from TVA at a substation, where it is transformed from 46,000 volts to 1,700 volts before being distributed across eight delivery points in Limestone County.
