Riverview Park plans major upgrades including Veterans Memorial relocation and new band shell

The City Council of Sebastian has announced significant upgrades to Riverview Park, aimed at enhancing community engagement and recreational opportunities. One of the most notable changes is the relocation of the Veterans Memorial to the west side of the park, a decision made in consultation with local veterans' organizations, who have expressed their support for the move.

In addition to the memorial relocation, the playground will be shifted from its current position next to the splash pad, allowing for a more centralized area for children's activities. This change is expected to create a more family-friendly environment within the park.

Harrison Street will see the closure of its eastern half, a plan that has been in the works for some time. This closure will facilitate the movement of volleyball courts from the northeast corner of Riverview Park to the southern end of Twin Piers, further optimizing the park's layout for recreational use.

Another exciting development is the construction of a permanent band shell, which will eliminate the need for a mobile stage. This new structure will be strategically placed to take advantage of the existing shade from nearby trees, enhancing the overall experience for visitors attending events at the park.
