The Holmen School District celebrated the retirement of 14 dedicated educators during the recent school board meeting, marking a significant transition for the community. These educators, who have collectively contributed over 320 years of service, range from seven to 40 years in the district, showcasing a wealth of experience and commitment to student development.
Among those retiring are Ellen Cable, a high school teacher with seven years of service; Kelly Becker, a behavioral interventionist with an impressive 40 years; and Peg Zarflu, the LMC director at Prairie View, who has served for 33 years. The board expressed deep gratitude for their contributions, emphasizing the lasting impact these educators have had on countless students' lives.
In addition to honoring retirees, board members reflected on recent community events, including a successful Family Literacy Night that engaged families and encouraged reading among students. The event was well-received, with parents noting the joy it brought to their children.
The meeting underscored the importance of recognizing the hard work of educators and fostering community involvement in school activities. As the district prepares for the upcoming school year, the board remains hopeful that many retirees will return to assist as substitutes, ensuring their invaluable expertise continues to benefit students.
