Last week, the Neshaminy School District celebrated Read Across America Week across all elementary schools, engaging students in various activities designed to promote reading literacy. Events included a twin day at Paquessing Elementary, where students dressed in matching outfits, and National Junior Honor Society members reading to younger students at Fertibar. Schools invited fourth graders and community guests, including principals and district staff, to participate as celebrity readers. Schweitzer Elementary hosted a Dr. Seuss-themed door decorating contest, with students donning striped hats and outfits inspired by the beloved author.

In addition to literacy celebrations, the district showcased its strong commitment to the arts. Two middle schools recently concluded their musicals, with Maple Point performing "Legally Blonde Junior" and Carl Sandburg presenting "Freaky Friday." The productions highlighted the hard work of students, advisors, and parents who contributed to set building, costumes, and event organization.

The Neshaminy High School Wind Ensemble also had a notable week, performing alongside the Philadelphia Wind Symphony. This collaboration provided high school musicians with a unique opportunity to learn from professionals and perform together, with Mitchell Pettis conducting both groups.

Athletic achievements were also celebrated, particularly freshman Grace Nesbitt, who earned a silver medal at the PIAA State Girls Wrestling Championship. Her success has inspired many girls to join the wrestling team, promising a bright future for the program.

Lastly, the community came together for a fun-filled evening at the Harlem Wizards game, which supports the Neshaminy Education Foundation. The event drew a large crowd of families and featured a spirited competition between the Wizards and a team of teachers and principals.

As the meeting progressed, routine matters were addressed, including the approval of the treasurer's report and other financial items, ensuring the district's operations continue smoothly.
