Fauquier County introduces new CIO John Savage and HR Director Autumn Holly

The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors meeting on December 12, 2024, featured significant personnel announcements and discussions on upcoming financial reports and community recognitions.

The meeting began with the introduction of two new employees. John Savage was welcomed as the new Chief Information Officer, set to lead the Information Technology Department starting January 13, 2025. Savage brings over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and IT, previously serving as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Information Technology Services at the Virginia Community College System. Autumn Holly was also introduced as the new Assistant Director of Human Resources, coming from the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Following the introductions, the agenda included a customary working lunch open to the public, followed by a work session focused on the Fiscal Year 2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The county's auditor, Andrew Birnichol from Robinson Farmer Cox Associates, was scheduled to present during this session.

Later in the day, the Board planned to review the Fiscal Year 2024 carryover package, which includes funding details for various county funds.

The evening session was set to feature several proclamations and recognitions. Notably, the Board will honor Carrie Elizabeth Washington on her 100th birthday and recognize Peggy Wang for her 37 years of service with Fauquier County. Additionally, the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department will be commemorated for its 100th anniversary, and Renee Culbertson will be celebrated upon her retirement.

The meeting will also include the presentation of the Citizen of the Year Awards, where each district supervisor will recognize an outstanding citizen from their area.

In a notable addition to the agenda, the Board will consider establishing a full-time Public Information Officer position to enhance communication with the media and the public. The position is projected to cost $57,481 for FY 2025, funded through the contingency reserve, with a future cost of $117,215 included in the FY 2026 budget.
