Pineview High School honors November Bulldog Award winners Renee Koehler and Megan Biggs

The Plainview Independent School District (PISD) Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on December 19, 2024, where they celebrated the achievements of several outstanding educators and students through the Bulldog Awards. This initiative aims to recognize the hard work and dedication of staff members who contribute significantly to the school community.

During the meeting, the first recipient of the Bulldog Award was Renee Koehler, a teacher at Pineview High School. Koehler was honored for her 20 years of service and coaching, with her nomination highlighting the support she has provided to both students and colleagues. The recognition was made even more special by the presence of her husband, showcasing the family aspect of the teaching profession.

Megan Biggs, an assistant principal at South Elementary, was the second recipient of the award. Her role involves significant responsibilities, including communication with parents, which is often challenging. The meeting also featured a presentation by Juanita Balco, an art teacher at PHS, who received a $1,000 grant aimed at enhancing student creativity and success in their crafts. This grant will provide valuable resources for her students, further enriching their educational experience.

In addition to the awards, the board discussed the Bulldog Store, a fundraising initiative that supports the Bulldog Awards. The store, along with other fundraising efforts like Santa photos, has raised $750, which will be used to reward deserving employees. The meeting concluded with a celebration of the Lady Bulldog volleyball team, coached by Amanda Martin and Shelly Falt, highlighting the district's dedication to both academic and athletic excellence.
