Under the bright lights of Neshaminy High School, excitement filled the air as families gathered for the annual STEAM Expo. Hundreds of children and their parents explored a vibrant array of activities and exhibits, showcasing the talents of students and staff alike. This year, a standout feature was an animal habitat activity, beautifully crafted by the child development and parenting students, which captivated the youngest attendees.
The STEAM Expo serves as a testament to the collaborative spirit of the Neshaminy community, highlighting the importance of science, technology, engineering, art, and math education. It aims to inspire younger students about the opportunities that await them as they progress through the Chamonix School District. Mr. David Jeannette, who organized the event, received heartfelt thanks for his dedication, along with appreciation for the teachers and high school students who contributed to making the night memorable.
In addition to the expo, April marked Autism Awareness Month, with schools engaging in activities that promote neurodiversity and kindness. Ben Hartranft, a passionate autism advocate and speaker, has been visiting schools to share his energetic message about understanding the autism spectrum. His impactful assemblies have resonated with students, prompting positive feedback from parents who noted the discussions their children have had at home. Plans are already in place to extend his visits to middle and high schools next year.
The meeting also highlighted a generous donation from Giant Supermarket, which contributed over $15,000 to combat food insecurity in the district. This donation, resulting from customer round-ups at two local stores, underscores the community's commitment to supporting its most vulnerable members.
As the evening concluded, the discussions reflected a shared vision for nurturing students and fostering a supportive environment, ensuring that the Neshaminy School District continues to thrive as a hub of learning and community engagement.
