Road Department successfully clears 35 roads during recent winter storm response

In a recent Faulkner County Quorum Court meeting, the spotlight shone on the impressive response of the road department during the recent winter storms. Road Administrator John Anderson reported that crews worked tirelessly, plowing 35 roads and deploying a significant amount of materials to ensure public safety. A total of 40 tons of sand, 90 tons of salt, and 8,000 pounds of calcium chloride were used to combat the icy conditions, with operations running around the clock.

Anderson expressed pride in his team's dedication, noting that they operated in two shifts to manage the demanding workload. "I was impressed with their operation out there," he stated, highlighting the importance of monitoring crew fatigue to maintain safety during long hours. The public's appreciation for the road crews was echoed by court members, who acknowledged the visible efforts made to keep roads clear.

The meeting also touched on the effective use of social media to keep the public informed about road closures, a move that received positive feedback from attendees. Additionally, the court addressed inquiries regarding the allocation of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds, clarifying that current allocations had already been committed.

In a separate report, Prosecuting Attorney Carol Cruz presented the annual hot check report, detailing how collected fees are utilized to offset various operational costs, ensuring transparency in county finances.
