Hillsborough School Board appoints Dr. Mandy Sierra as Lake Magdalene Elementary principal

The Hillsborough County School Board made a significant move at their February 25, 2025 meeting by unanimously approving the appointment of Dr. Mandy Sierra as the new principal of Lake Magdalene Elementary. This decision was part of the consent agenda, which also included various administrative items.

Dr. Sierra, who has been with Hillsborough County Public Schools since 2012, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She began her career as both an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and general education teacher at Temple Terrace Elementary. In 2019, she transitioned to Lake Magdalene Elementary as a Response to Intervention (RTI) resource teacher and later served as the assistant principal before her recent promotion.

Superintendent Ayers praised Dr. Sierra's commitment to academic success and her dedication to fostering a positive school culture. The board and community members welcomed her warmly, acknowledging the leadership of former principal Anne Perez, who served for six years at Lake Magdalene.

In addition to the principal appointment, the meeting also addressed the adoption and purchase of recommended instructional materials for K-12 science, signaling ongoing efforts to enhance educational resources within the district.
