District announces new principals for Schoette, Antioch, and Middlebrook schools

In a vibrant gathering at the North Kansas City School District Board of Education meeting, excitement filled the air as three new school principals were announced for the upcoming academic year. Doctor Johnson took the stage, beaming with pride as he introduced these remarkable leaders who are set to guide the district's students and families.

First to be introduced was Doctor Derek Hutchinson, who will take the helm at Schoette Elementary School. With a rich background in education spanning seventeen years, Hutchinson has served in various roles, including as an elementary classroom teacher and a gifted education instructor. His impressive credentials include a PhD in curriculum and instruction from the University of Kansas. As he prepares to foster relationships within the Schoette community, Hutchinson expressed his eagerness to connect with families, staff, and students.

Next was Emily McCall, who will lead Antioch Middle School. McCall, also in her seventeenth year in education, began her career in Texas before returning to the Kansas City area. Currently an assistant principal at Northgate, she holds degrees in communication and educational administration. McCall is particularly excited to return to Antioch, where she aims to strengthen her existing relationships with the school community.

Lastly, Doctor Jeremy Montague was announced as the new principal of Middlebrook Elementary School. With fourteen years of experience in the North Kansas City Schools, Montague has served as a special education teacher and assistant principal across several schools. A proud alumnus of Oak Park, he has earned multiple degrees from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Montague looks forward to building on the traditions that make Middlebrook a cherished school.

As the meeting concluded, the board and community members expressed their enthusiasm for the new leadership, anticipating a bright future for the schools under their guidance.
