The Michigan City Planning Commission convened on February 25, 2025, to discuss the major subdivision secondary plat approval for Tract 1 of the Moore Subdivision, located at the intersection of Moore Road and Highway 12. The meeting was led by President Grankquist, with attorney Anthony Novak representing the petitioner, Pyramid Properties Inc., and its owner, Tony McCrete.
Attorney Novak provided a brief overview of the project, which aims to develop a total of 40 residential units, with the first phase consisting of 16 townhomes. He noted that the commission had previously granted final approval for the planned unit development (PUD) in January 2025 and was now seeking secondary plat approval to move forward with construction.

Novak confirmed that all conditions had been met, including the approval of the stormwater design by city engineers.
Staff reports from various departments indicated no objections to the proposal. The water department confirmed that the developer met all requirements, while the fire department and sanitation department expressed no concerns at this stage. Planning staff recommended approval of the final plat for Phase 1, stating that the project aligns with the goals of the PUD to preserve natural features and provide open space.
The commission discussed the compliance of the secondary plat with the previously approved primary plat and subdivision ordinance. No public hearing was required for this approval, but the commission was tasked with ensuring that the application met all necessary regulations.
After reviewing the details and confirming compliance, the commission moved forward with the approval process. The meeting concluded with a consensus to proceed with the development, marking a significant step for the Moore Subdivision project. Further actions and developments are expected in the coming months as the project progresses.
