The Tazewell County Board of Supervisors convened on January 7, 2025, to discuss critical infrastructure improvements, particularly focusing on the Falls Mills Public Service Authority (PSA) project. The board is poised to support a significant funding initiative aimed at enhancing the Falls Mills sewer treatment system, which serves several communities in the Northern District.
During the meeting, officials outlined the need for a $2,112,414 bond to finance essential upgrades, including pump station improvements and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure. The Virginia Resources Authority (VRA) has expressed willingness to finance part of the project, but the PSA requires a moral obligation from the board to secure the loan. This nonbinding agreement would assure the VRA that the county would support the PSA in case of default, effectively acting as a co-signer for the bond.
