CCA show choir wins first place while multiple teams advance to state contests

Clear Creek Amana School District Celebrates Student Achievements at February Board Meeting

The Clear Creek Amana (CCA) School Board meeting on February 26, 2025, highlighted a series of impressive student accomplishments across various programs, showcasing the district's commitment to excellence in education and extracurricular activities.

In a spirited report, it was announced that the CCA show choir clinched first place at the Benton Showcase, while the Dynamics group earned a Division 1 rating at the state level. The large group speech team also shone brightly, winning the WAMAC West Division championship, with 11 events qualifying for the state contest. Notably, three events were selected for the prestigious All-State Speech Festival, including "Boys of Waterloo," "Catch Me If You Can," and "Dumpster Fire."

The district's jazz band ensemble also made waves, receiving a Division 1 rating at the Iowa High School Music Association Jazz Festival. In the realm of Future Farmers of America (FFA), students Olivia Webb, Dela Roller, and Courtney Williams earned gold in chapter programs at sub-districts, advancing to districts. Additionally, several students excelled in parliamentary procedure and job interview competitions, further demonstrating the diverse talents within the student body.

The meeting also celebrated the success of the yearbook, which placed first in the state for its theme, "End of an Era," marking a significant milestone as it was the last yearbook produced. The newspaper team is set to release its spring magazine for the first time and will submit over 75 pieces of writing and design elements to the Iowa High School Press Association.

As the meeting transitioned to discussions about upcoming summer sports, the enthusiasm for continued student achievements was palpable.
