Chandler Unified School District is set to enhance its Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings with the introduction of a new semiconductor program, following discussions during the Governing Board Study Session on February 26, 2025. This initiative aims to provide students with hands-on experience in a rapidly growing industry, addressing both educational needs and workforce demands.
The semiconductor program will be a two-year course, with the first year focusing on foundational skills and the second year offering advanced training. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in internships, allowing them to apply their learning in real-world settings. The program is designed to accommodate up to 30 students, with enrollment processes currently underway at Hamilton High School.

This course will introduce various career clusters, helping students make informed decisions about their high school elective offerings. The goal is to foster exploration and ensure that students are not locked into a single career path without understanding their options.
Counselors and CTE teachers are being encouraged to support students in exploring their interests, even if it means changing programs after the first year. This approach aims to balance the need for student retention with the importance of finding the right fit for each individual.
The district's commitment to updating its curriculum maps and engaging with industry partners reflects a proactive approach to education, ensuring that students are well-prepared for future careers. As these programs roll out, Chandler USD is poised to make significant strides in equipping students with the skills necessary for success in the modern workforce.
