Kirkland City Council discusses RapidRide K Line transit project plans and community impacts

The Kirkland City Council convened on February 18, 2025, to discuss significant developments regarding the King County Metro K Line project, a major transit initiative aimed at enhancing public transportation in the region. The meeting highlighted the importance of the K Line, which is expected to provide frequent service, connecting various parts of Kirkland and beyond.

During the session, City Manager Kurt Triplett emphasized the K Line as a culmination of over a decade of advocacy and planning by city officials and community stakeholders. He noted that the project represents a critical investment in transit infrastructure, promising service every 10 to 15 minutes, 16 hours a day, throughout the week. These improvements are projected to save significant operational costs for Metro, further underscoring the project's economic viability.

The council is set to reconvene on March 4 and March 18 to finalize their support for the K Line, with the anticipation that this project will not only enhance public transit but also stimulate local economic growth.
