Woodside Council proposes multi-use trail improvements along Kenyatta Road

Residents of Woodside can expect significant improvements to local trail access following the Town Council meeting on December 10, 2024. The council discussed a proposal to transform an existing trail into a multi-use path, accommodating pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians, which aims to enhance safety and accessibility for all community members, particularly children traveling to school.

The proposed changes involve relocating the trail from its current position along Kenyatta Road to a new alignment that will allow for better visibility and safety. Concerns had been raised by residents regarding the visibility of trail users due to the positioning of nearby fences. In response, the council emphasized the importance of maintaining a lower fence height of four feet, which would help ensure that trail users remain visible to passing vehicles, thereby reducing potential conflicts and enhancing safety.

The applicant is responsible for funding the construction of the new multi-use trail, which will be built within a 15-foot easement. The council noted that while the trail width is typically between two to four feet, there is flexibility to expand it to eight feet to accommodate various users effectively.
