Maddie is the first female wrestler from Stover to achieve this honor, showcasing her talent both on the mat and in the classroom as an exemplary scholar. Her hard work and determination have garnered admiration from her peers and teachers alike.
The meeting also recognized several teachers who achieved National Board Certification, a prestigious credential that signifies advanced teaching proficiency. This rigorous process requires teachers to reflect on their practices and demonstrate mastery of their subjects. Among the honorees were Rachel Proctor, Diane Farlet, Floret Jackson, Stephanie Jones, and Calvin McCroy, all of whom have shown exceptional commitment to their profession.
Additionally, Stover Middle School received a $1,000 conservation education mini grant from the Kershaw County Soil and Water Conservation District. This funding, applied for by science teacher Christopher Mack, will enhance the school's garden project, teaching students about sustainable living and horticulture.
The meeting concluded with a public forum featuring Kelly Fleming, representing the Camden Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, who discussed youth initiatives aimed at empowering girls in Kershaw County.
