Indy Parks launches summer jobs with bonuses for youth employment

The City Council of Indianapolis is actively promoting summer job opportunities for local youth, aiming to engage them in meaningful work while enhancing community services. This month, Indy Parks and Recreation has launched its summer hiring campaign, offering a range of positions with competitive pay between $14 and nearly $17 per hour. Notably, those who register by April 4 will be eligible for a $500 bonus, making these roles even more appealing.

Residents aged 16 and older are encouraged to apply for various positions, including park cleanups, camp counseling, and lifeguarding at local pools. This initiative not only provides valuable work experience for young people but also contributes to the upkeep and enjoyment of community parks.

In addition to Indy Parks, Mayor Hoxet's youth jobs initiative, Project Indy, is also gearing up for summer hiring. Now in its ninth year, Project Indy has successfully connected nearly 20,000 young residents with job opportunities throughout the city. As summer 2025 approaches, the city plans to host numerous hiring events, further expanding access to employment for Indianapolis youth.
