Plymouth evaluates traffic impact of Pulte's 150-unit development plan

In a recent meeting of the Plymouth Select Board, significant discussions centered around traffic impacts and infrastructure improvements related to new development projects in the area. The board reviewed data on vehicle trip generation from proposed residential units, highlighting that a project in North Plymouth is expected to generate between 77 and 83 peak hour trips, while another in Bedford Center is projected to produce 53 to 54 trips during peak hours.

The analysis presented indicated that, on average, developments of this nature would generate about 50 to 60 vehicle trips per hour, a figure consistent with industry standards. This data aims to reassure residents that the anticipated traffic impacts are manageable and will be dispersed across various intersections in town.

One of the key initiatives discussed was the planned improvements to the Court Street intersection at Prince and Cherry Streets. These enhancements, funded by mitigation dollars from a previous CVS project, are set to address congestion issues that have long plagued the area, particularly for southbound traffic. The improvements are expected to be completed within the next two to three years, coinciding with the opening of new developments proposed by Pulte.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the need for emergency response enhancements at the intersection of Hedged Road and Court Street. A new traffic signal will allow emergency vehicles to receive priority access, significantly improving response times for fire apparatus. This system will be integrated with real-time capabilities to ensure that emergency vehicles can navigate through traffic efficiently.
