Georgia House passes digital driver's license bill for law enforcement verification

Georgians will soon have the option to use digital driver's licenses when interacting with law enforcement, following the passage of House Bill 296 during the Georgia State Legislature's recent session. This bill, which received overwhelming support with a vote of 54 to 17, aims to modernize identification processes and enhance convenience for over 420,000 residents already utilizing digital IDs.

Under the new legislation, individuals pulled over by law enforcement will be able to present their digital driver's license via a secure tap-to-touch technology, similar to contactless payment methods.
