West Fargo approves $275K business incentive for Long Creek Steel jobs expansion

The City of West Fargo City Commission convened on March 3, 2025, to discuss several key agenda items, including a business incentive proposal and the extension of the Renaissance Zone designation.

The second portion of $175,000 will be forgiven after the company completes its first full year of operations. Commissioners raised questions about the timeline for infrastructure development, with street construction expected to begin in the summer. Long Creek Steel is targeting October for equipment arrival, with hopes of obtaining the necessary occupancy certificate by the end of the year.

Following discussions, Commissioner Zendell moved to approve the business incentive for Long Creek Steel, which was seconded by Commissioner Olson. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting then shifted to the Renaissance Zone designation, which is set to expire on June 6, 2025. Director of Economic Development Casey Sanders Bergland requested confirmation from the commission to proceed with a 10-year extension of the designation. This extension would allow for updates to the development plan and guidelines without making immediate changes to the existing program.
