Pebble Creek School implements flood recovery measures and air quality testing

In the wake of a recent flood that impacted a local school, the College Station Independent School District (CSISD) Board convened to discuss the ongoing recovery efforts and the state of the affected facilities. The meeting, held on December 17, 2024, provided a detailed overview of the damage and the proactive measures being taken to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.

As the discussion unfolded, it became clear that while some areas of the school suffered significant water damage, others remained largely untouched. The kindergarten and first-grade wings emerged relatively unscathed, while the music room and library bore the brunt of the flooding due to their flooring materials. Fortunately, the building's carpet, installed with a special sealant, proved resilient, with only one tile reported to have popped.

The district's commitment to maintaining air quality was evident as officials shared results from air quality testing conducted just days after the flood. Samples taken from various locations within the school showed indoor mold spore counts significantly lower than those found outdoors, with no black mold detected.
