Arkansas honors Scottie Pippen and Morgan Nick Foundation for child recovery efforts

In a recent House Management Committee meeting, Arkansas legislators took significant steps to honor two pivotal figures in the state’s history. The committee unanimously passed a resolution to recognize Scottie Pippen, a basketball legend and native of Hamburg, Arkansas, as one of the greatest players in the National Basketball Association (NBA) history. Pippen, who faced numerous challenges early in his career, including a lack of scholarship offers, ultimately rose to prominence after being drafted fifth overall in the 1987 NBA Draft. This resolution marks the first time Pippen has been officially honored by the Arkansas legislature, highlighting his remarkable journey from a small town to NBA stardom.

The committee also addressed the thirtieth anniversary of the kidnapping of Morgan Nick, a case that has profoundly impacted the state. Representative Ryan Rose presented a resolution to honor the Morgan Nick Foundation, which has played a crucial role in supporting families affected by abductions and working alongside law enforcement to recover missing children. The foundation has successfully aided in the recovery of 16 missing children in Arkansas just this January, and 82 children in the previous year, showcasing its vital contributions to child safety and community support.
