In a significant move to enhance water security for residents, the Village Board of Hinsdale has approved a $406,000 bid to H Linden and Sons for the construction of a water main interconnect with the neighboring village of Burr Ridge. This project aims to establish a reliable backup water supply, ensuring that Hinsdale can maintain access to clean water in the event of disruptions to the DuPage water supply.
During the meeting, board members emphasized the importance of this interconnect, particularly in light of a recent incident where the DuPage water supply was temporarily unavailable. The interconnect will allow Hinsdale to draw water from Burr Ridge, which sources its water from a different supply, thereby diversifying the village's water resources and reducing reliance on well water.

In addition to the water main project, the board also discussed tree pruning services, awarding a contract to Yellowstone, a company that has previously received positive feedback for its work in other communities. The tree maintenance budget is set at $100,000, with a focus on maximizing the number of trees serviced within this financial limit.
The meeting underscored the village's commitment to ensuring essential services for its residents, with the water interconnect project being a critical step toward safeguarding the community's water supply. As the project moves forward, Hinsdale residents can look forward to improved water security and continued efforts to maintain the village's green spaces.
