Rosenberg City Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing the city’s water infrastructure by approving a resolution for the construction of Water Plant Number 9. During the meeting on March 4, 2025, the council unanimously awarded the bid to W.W. Payton Corporation for $10.9 million, with a construction timeline of 600 days. This new facility will include a water well, ground storage tank, booster pump station, and necessary treatment systems to ensure compliance with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regulations. The project is essential to accommodate the city's ongoing growth and development.
City officials emphasized the importance of this project, noting that it will bolster the city’s water supply capabilities, which are critical for future community needs. The funding for this initiative is secured through the fiscal year 2025 capital improvement plan, utilizing water and wastewater funds along with water impact fees.

This request, made by Finney Valley Road Owner LP, was approved without objections, as the city would not receive tax revenue from the property. The release was deemed necessary under Texas law, as the property did not have a strategic partnership agreement with the city.
Furthermore, the council reviewed a variance request for a residential property located at 2649 US 90 A West. The request aimed to allow access from an existing dedicated road easement rather than a public street, which is typically required. The Planning Commission had previously recommended approval of this variance, and the council echoed this support, facilitating the construction of a modular home on the site.
These decisions reflect the city council's commitment to infrastructure development and community growth, ensuring that Rosenberg is well-equipped to meet the demands of its expanding population.
