Mayor Dalton highlights Red Bank's community initiatives and goals during city commission meeting

The City of Red Bank, Tennessee, held its regular commission meeting on March 4, 2025, addressing several key topics, including updates from the mayor, discussions on community programs, and new initiatives for public art.

Mayor Stephanie Dalton opened the meeting by highlighting the city's recent commissioner's retreat, where officials reviewed mission and vision statements, conducted a SWOT analysis, and set new goals for the upcoming year. She expressed gratitude to Hana Rogers from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service for facilitating the retreat and noted that a finalized report would be discussed in the next meeting.

In her report, Mayor Dalton also announced the launch of a bingo program for active older adults, scheduled for the last Thursday of each month, and emphasized the importance of community involvement, particularly in light of a burn ban currently in effect due to dry weather conditions. She encouraged residents to volunteer at the Red Bank Community Food Pantry, which will distribute food on March 6.

Commissioner Jamie Fairbanks Harvey echoed the mayor's sentiments about the retreat and shared excitement for the Red Bank High School basketball team's progress toward the state championships. She also invited residents to a "Listen and Learn" event on March 17.

Commissioner Terry Holmes reported on upcoming community events, including "S'mores and Sounds" at City Park, and urged residents to report any vandalism in local parks. Commissioner Hayes Wilkinson thanked volunteers for their efforts in maintaining local trails and recognized the White Oak Bicycle Co-op for donating its 2,000th bicycle to the community.

City Manager Mr. Granham provided updates on legislative matters, including a proposal to eliminate sales tax on groceries, which could significantly impact city revenues. He also discussed potential legislation that may require the city to cover costs for prosecutorial services and ambulance services.

The meeting concluded with the approval of several resolutions, including funding for a mural installation at the Kids Corner Playground, supported by a grant from the Red Bank and Saudi Daisy Charitable Foundation. The mural project is part of the city's ongoing efforts to enhance public art and community engagement.

The next commission meeting is scheduled for March 18, where the finalized report from the retreat will be formally adopted, along with further discussions on community initiatives.
