Provo community embraces English classes and service projects for neighborhood transformation

Santaquin City Council is making strides in community engagement and support, as highlighted in their recent work session on March 4, 2025. A key focus of the meeting was the success of English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, which have become the most popular offering in the community. With some students having lived in the United States for over 20 years, these classes are helping individuals improve their language skills and integrate more effectively into society.

The community's response has been robust, with 700 residents attending the Community Resource Center (CRC) and 200 students preparing to graduate from the ESL program. This initiative is not only enhancing communication but also fostering a sense of belonging among participants.

In addition to language education, the council discussed ongoing community service projects that are transforming neighborhoods. Six service days are scheduled each year, featuring activities such as painting, yard cleanup, landscape maintenance, community garden upkeep, tree removal, and fence repairs. These efforts are helping neighbors reconnect and build relationships, with social events drawing thousands of attendees throughout the year.
