Mat Su Central Schools to host ribbon cutting and annual safety week in March

The meeting also featured a report from Captain Gorn of the Alaska State Troopers, who provided an update on law enforcement in the Mat Su Valley. Captain Gorn reported positive trends in staffing, with seven recruits currently in field training and additional transfers expected. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong relationships with borough entities, particularly with emergency services, to enhance community safety.

Lieutenant Tim Cronin also addressed the assembly, discussing the transition to summer operations and the increase in traffic-related incidents due to warmer weather. He noted the importance of proactive traffic enforcement and the use of drones to expedite investigations of serious collisions, significantly reducing road closure times.
