Enterprise Council approves permits for community events including egg drop and marathons

The Enterprise City Council convened on March 5, 2025, to discuss several community events and municipal business, including permit requests and vehicle bids for the police department.

The meeting commenced with a congratulatory note to the boys and girls wrestling teams from Enterprise High School. Following this, the council addressed a permit request from Church With You, represented by Tony Bradley, for their tenth annual helicopter egg drop event scheduled for April 19, 2025, at Bates Memorial Stadium. Bradley highlighted the event's growth, expecting over 3,000 attendees and the dropping of approximately 50,000 eggs. The council unanimously approved the permit request.

Next, Warren Baron from the Enterprise Lions Club presented a permit request for the Bow Weaver 100 event, set for May 3, 2025. This event will include a street closure on Alberta Street and aims to involve local veterans. The council approved this request as well.

Travis Parker then addressed the council regarding the Sweat for Vets march, planned for May 17, 2025. This event will feature dual marches, including a 5K and an 11.1-mile route. Parker noted improvements based on previous experiences and received the council's approval for the permit.

The meeting proceeded to the privilege of the floor, allowing attendees to address the council, although no public comments were made.

In the latter part of the meeting, the council reviewed a bid recommendation for police department vehicles. Barry Mott, the bid purchasing agent, presented bids for various vehicles, including a Ford Explorer police interceptor and a Ram pickup truck. The council moved to award the bids to the lowest responsive bidders, ensuring the police department's needs are met efficiently.
