Carlsbad launches small business liaison program to streamline city support

Carlsbad's Economic Development Subcommittee has taken significant steps to bolster support for small businesses in the community. During a recent meeting, Rachel Mault, the senior program manager and small business liaison, provided an update on the city's Small Business Liaison Program (SBL) and its initiatives aimed at enhancing local business operations.

The SBL program is designed to assist Carlsbad's small business community by simplifying access to city resources and providing direct support. Mault highlighted that the program continues to evolve, focusing on equipping businesses with essential tools for success. The small business liaison serves as a single point of contact, helping entrepreneurs navigate various city processes, including permitting, zoning, and compliance with local ordinances.

To improve accessibility, the city has introduced an intake form that allows business owners to request assistance easily. This form can be accessed through the city’s website, ensuring that help is just a click away. Additionally, the city plans to establish office hours at public facilities, such as the Cole Library, where business owners can meet with the liaison to discuss their needs and ask questions about city processes. Information regarding scheduling will be made available on the city's business hub website.
