This event not only provided networking opportunities but also allowed middle school students to engage in a mock general assembly, enhancing their understanding of parliamentary procedures.
The Winter Leadership Conference further emphasized MASC's commitment to advocacy, as students discussed legislative matters and participated in the selection process for the state’s student member on the board. This year, MASC saw a significant increase in nominations for this position, receiving 25 nominations from 15 local education agencies, a notable rise from previous years.
Looking ahead, MASC is gearing up for its annual convention in Ocean City, set to feature student-led workshops, motivational speakers, and opportunities for students to connect with various organizations. The event promises to be a highlight of the year, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among student leaders.
As the meeting concluded, the board members expressed their appreciation for the dedication and enthusiasm of MASC, recognizing the vital role that student voices play in shaping Maryland's educational landscape. With initiatives aimed at enhancing student involvement in state-level policy and leadership development, MASC continues to pave the way for a brighter future for students across Maryland.
