Boise Airport announces major concession upgrades and expansion projects completion timelines

The Boise Airport Commission meeting held on March 5, 2025, focused on significant updates regarding ongoing projects and future developments at Boise Airport. The meeting highlighted the progress made on various initiatives aimed at enhancing passenger experience and airport facilities.

The session began with an overview of the new concessions update, which is generating excitement among stakeholders. Temporary walls have been erected in the concourse to showcase upcoming offerings. Key milestones include the expected substantial completion of the Boise Depot in early April and the Sawtooth Essentials in early May. Additionally, new concession areas featuring Blue Sky Bagels, Pizza Hut, and Protein Bar are set to open in June, replacing the previous vendors. The introduction of family restrooms on Concourse B was also announced, aimed at accommodating the growing number of passengers, particularly families traveling with small children. This project, funded by a grant from the bipartisan infrastructure law, is scheduled for completion in April.

The meeting also addressed the consolidated rental car facility, which is visibly progressing with one-third of Level 5 completed and the first concrete placement for ramps finished. A topping-off ceremony for the Customer Service Building took place on February 25, marking a significant milestone in the project, which is expected to be completed in late spring or early summer of 2026.

Further discussions included the concourse development program and terminal improvements. The commission is refining facility program needs based on passenger forecasts and will begin concourse visioning in March. A construction manager general contractor approach is being adopted to ensure effective collaboration during the design process, with responses to the released RFQ due by March 12.

The meeting concluded with updates on passenger boarding bridges, for which a $9 million grant was received. The project is currently at 75% design completion, with formal bidding anticipated later in the year. Additionally, the commission is preparing for a master plan update, having selected InterVistas for the project, which will involve public and stakeholder input through various committees and open houses.
