Cypress High School project advances with elevator installation and auditorium changes

The construction of the new Cypress High School is making significant strides, with key updates shared during the March 4 Board of Education Administrative Session. The meeting highlighted the progress on specialized educational facilities, including the installation of kilns and HVAC systems, as well as the nearing completion of academic spaces in the Fourth Wing.

One of the most exciting developments is the installation of the third elevator cab, which is crucial for the upcoming transition of furniture and staff from the existing school. The district's efforts to ensure smooth communication for elevator inspections were also noted, indicating a proactive approach to the move-in process.

A notable discussion point was the approval of a change order related to the auditorium's rigging system. The district is set to incur an additional $60,000 for necessary electrical modifications that were not included in the original bid. This change is deemed essential for the system's performance and is considered a value-added adjustment, following a previous credit of $23,000 for an oversight in the initial design.
